HOW DOES YOUR GARDEN GROW
(preschool-grade 2)
A long-time favorite at Botanica, this class leads children through an interactive discovery of what a plant needs to grow as they help a seed become a six-foot-tall sunflower. Students then participate in a scavenger hunt throughout the Gardens. This class can be adapted and taught in your classroom!

BUGS!
(K- grade 3)
At any given time, there are 10 quintillion insects on our planet. We need to know our neighbors! In this class, we’ll learn about the different anatomy, lifestyles, and adaptations of these fascinating creatures. We’ll even build an edible insect to take home. EX”SEED”INGLY EXCITING!
(K- grade 4)
The amazing variety of seeds and their hidden potential are explored in this class. Children will dissect a seed, sort seeds, play a seed matching game, and create a flipbook to take home. MONARCH DAYS
(grades 1-5)
Students are able to observe hundreds of butterflies in free-flight in our Butterfly House, get a microscopic view of Monarch body parts, watch a Monarch tagging demonstration and participate in a migration simulation game. PLANTASTICS
(grades 2-5)
Students learn about plant life cycles, play a plant survival game, learn which plant parts are edible in “What’s For Dinner?,” and plant a seed or take a cutting to take home. This class can be adapted and taught in your classroom! Call 316-264-0448 for more information or to register your class.

GROWING IMAGINATIONS
(all grade levels)
Children will participate in activities that cover a variety of curriculum while visiting various areas of the Downing Children’s Garden. This themed garden has it all— art, music, literature, writing, physical education, science and even math! Activities can be adapted to your grade level.
